searching with '|' condition will have backslash'\'

I use aras 10.0

I am trying to set filter search. My code is like

var retObj = new Object();
retObj["name"] = { filterValue:"|", isFilterFixed:true };
return retObj;

The result is:

Why is there a backslash next to 'I' ??
