I'm trying to develop some server methods on Innovator 9.4 with IOM api... but I found a strange behavior in the IOM.

Some examples:

• The method "getRelationships()" applied to an Item does not return the Items under "Relationships" tag but the same Item on which I call that method.
• The method "getRelatedItem()" called on a Relationship Item does not return the Related Item but the same Item on which I call that method.

Maybe my code is wrong... or maybe there are serious bugs in the 9.4 IOM library... Is there someone with same experience?

While I developing client method , I want to get reference other client method. Can I use or reference? If someone had solutions give me a hint, please.

I have created a method which runs from clicking a button on an Item form.  Quite simple, it creates a new Item and then a relationship from the Item in the open form to the new Item.  The method works fine I just have one question.  After the method runs the open form does not automatically refresh(no real suprise) so I have to close the form and re-open to see the new relationship.  I have tried l clicking the refresh button in the menu, but that did not work.

My question:

Is there a way to refresh the data in the form programmtically from the method?

Actually this would apply for making any update from a client method on an open form. 

A secondary, question (which has other uses) is there a way to programmatically close the window from the method?  In an earlier forum question Rob gave me the command for the client API to open a form (which I have working), so I am guessing there is a close function also.  A save function would also be an option, I believe clicking on the save Icon leads to a screen refresh.

If it makes any difference I would not that I am currently running the method with the Form Item in View mode.

I have been working with Aras Innovator 9.4 for the past month or 2 and I have come across an error that I do not know what to do with.  I have created a couple of new workflows and a corresponding lifecycle.  I have also created my new ItemTypes to be almost identical to the Express DCO including the related ItemTypes.  I have made sure that the Implementation Types are set to "Single Item" and verified everything I can think of regarding settings, permissions, relationships.  Regardless of all this when I create an item type I get the message "Not a single item".

I have tested the workflow and lifecycle under the Express DCO ItemType in order to make sure they work properly and all goes well.  I am only familiar with lower level programming languages and do not know how to look through the methods to look for changes that may be needed.  I am not even sure where the problem lies but I would like to see if someone can at least point me in the right direction as to what the problem might be and if it is a programming issue I can have our company programmers work on it.

I also spent some time going through looking at permissions and groups assignments as well to make sure that all looked good.  I read through all of the documentation on the Just Ask Aras and didn't find anything.  Just for kicks I made another Workflow Map and ItemType to see if there was something corrupt in the first and the same problem presented itself.

If any other information is needed let me know.  The exact text from the error is this.

I am new to Aras PLM. I previously worked on Enovia eMatrix. I want to understand the program flow for the process and functionalities. I mean

where are the source code stored and compiled, is it similar to JPOs in enovia.

Where can I find Advanced Programming Guide.

Is UI display and preferences stored in XML structure and displayed using HTML/XSLT ? Where can I find xsl files ? How are the modifications at UI level captured and stored ?t

Regarding Server code, how the business logic is modeled in XML strucuture.. how webservices are invoked for particular event, server functions ? How database updates are done ?

Any documentation that would help me understand ?

I was able to install SQL Express, IIS, and Innovator.  At the Innovator login screen I entered "admin" and "innovator", only the one database in the dropdown "InnovatorSolutions".

Get the error "The Database is not available."

I'm not familiar with SQL so not sure where to start.

Since using Innovator, one thing that I have found that is somewhat limiting is the configurability of the main item grid. Am I missing something somewhere? Here are some of the things I would like to be able to do, but can't seem to figure out how without creating my own separate form to replace the default main item listing grid.

1. Add events to clicking on a row. I would like to add a right click menu option for when you right click on a row in the grid. 

2. Alter the searching/ordering capabilities. For example, I have a field that is of data type List (its a list of names). That field shows up on the main grid as a drop down, and there doesnt seem to be any easy way for me to change that to a text field on the grid.

I am sure there are work-arounds for my 2nd item (I thought about creating a separate property that is a string and just copying the values to that, and then using the string property on the grid), but I was hoping there was a cleaner solution.

Something quite basic. I am not able to figure it out though.

I have created a custom item type (ETAR). I have also created a form to go with it. I have fields on the form that are associated to item properties. When the user enters values on to the form, the properties of the item should get populated accordingly. This is only working for fields  populated with lists of values from the item. Any other fields (Date and String), where the user enters the value are not sticking. Once the item is saved and re-opened, the values are lost. 

For example:

ETAR has a string property "location"

ETAR form has a text field called "txt_location" which has its data source set to the item property "location"

When a new instance of ETAR is created, and a value is entered in the txt_location field, upon saving, this value is not saved into the ETAR location property.

What am I missing?

Hi All,

I have created a custom change type (ETAR). I want it to behave like the ECR in that when I press the right mouse button on a part, it gives me an option to "Add Item(s) to Change" option. When I pick this option, a dialog comes up with "Change Type: " drop down. The drop down has values for the OOTB types listed. How do I add my custom change type do this drop down?

I just installed Aras Innovator 9.4.0 on a Win 2012 R2 system and SQL Server 2012.  When I direct my IE 10 browser to the site, I land on this URL:  

http://aras-test/innovatorserver/Client/X-salt=std_9.4.0.5804-X/requires_ie.html

The text of this page claims that Aras Innovator requires IE 7+.  As I clearly meet the criteria, I'm guessing that IIS isn't correctly identifying the browser when it connects.  I'm not much for IIS and brand new to Aras.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

We are creating a integration layer as a webservice to fetch the data from Aras PLM which can be consumed by other external systems.

We were able to fetch the part details for a particular part number using the below code.

Also it would be great if you could help me out in retrieving the Work instructions(Document type object) and all the other available type of objects from PLM using API's.

I have recently installed Aras Innovator 9.4 on Windows 2008R2 server. I can log into the client on the server.

On a separate computer on the network running Windows 7 and IE10 I have followed all the procedures for setting up client. .Net 4 and 4.5 are installed. I get error trying to access:

Aras Innovator client has failed to initialize.

Hosting .net controls in Internet Explorer is disabled.

I have been all over this forum looking and trying tricks for ie10 and .net 4.5... no luck.

I have installed Aras Innovator 9.3.0 SP8 on Windows 7 (64 bit). But the main grid is empty. I saw such trouble in Installation Guide and have tried to re-install MSXML. I tried different versions, but nothing has helped. Now I have MSXML4 SP3, .NET 3.5 SP1, IE9 (with all required settings and capability view) and main grid not painting columns or headers. I have an installation of Aras innovator on my machine.  That is working fine .

But whenever I tried to access from the client machine, it is showing the below error.

But I followed all the instructions given in the "Aras Innovator 9.0 - .NET Client Configuration.pdf" guide. I have installed ".Net Framework 2.0 Redistributable version" also.

Anyone knows about this problem? 

Both machines have configuration of  Windows XP SP2,  1.5GB of RAM, IE6.0, .Net Framwork2.0.Only difference is I don't have administrator for the client machine. Is 'administrator' privilleges required for accessing the Aras Innovator from client machine?

I'm trying to create a alert dialog window which has particular data in tabular format and shows for particular user group login's ARAS.

I'm checking the default.aspx,setup.aspx but don't know exactly where to embed so that it checks the login crendentials and leads to alert dialog window .

How to do and Where to embed the code to achieve this particular task.

I have binded the https protocol on port 443 with Windows Server default SSL certificate in IIS.

I have deployed Aras Application on IIS.

I have tested it using http://servername/InnovatorServer and it works fine..

But while accessing ARAS using:

https://servername/InnovatorServer, I get the login screen but unable to Login into Aras.

I have gone through below documents but find nothing:

While debugging I got following error in sequence:

I am facing problem in installation while connecting to the database.

I have successfully installed SQL server & even log in to it through server management.

Installation is showing following problem.

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL server driver][Shared memory]SQL server does not exist or access denied.

until january i have to install a Aras Innovator testmachine for our consultants, for an Aras Workshop.

I installed the Aras Software (.NET Framework, MS SQL Server 2012 Express, IIS 7.5, Aras Innovator 7.4) with the offical documentation on a Windows 7 X64 Laptop.

All works fine.

If i start Innovator i got an IIS- Error (HTTP-Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error).
Errordetails are Attached.
